Dangers of hiring a motorbike in Bali, Travel Video Guide

The quandary of hiring a motorbike in Bali is that despite the law stating every tourist requires an international license, very rarely will you be asked to show it when hiring a bike.

To make matters even more confusing, tourists are often targeted by police with fines resulting in no official record. It is common knowledge, a good haggler can get these 200,000 Rupiah fines down to 50,000 Rupiah, which lead to the question, who pockets the fine, the police or the State?

Before hiring a motorbike, it is important to check with your travel insurer, whether you are covered for an accident or damage to a hired bike, if you don’t have the correct driving license.
