I don’t always visit art galleries when I travel, but when I do, it’s on the street!
Subversive, colourful, playful, temporary. Everything good art should be!
#streetart #graffiti #childrenindetention #australia #naura #manus #politicalart Detaining a single asylum seeker on Manus or Nauru costs $400,000 per year. Detention in Australia costs $239,000 per year. By contrast, allowing asylum seekers to live in the community while their claims are processed costs just $12,000 per year, one twentieth of the cost of the offshore camps, and even less if they are allowed the right to work. The Government's latest statistics, dated 31 July 2015, reveal that: 118 children are held in immigration detention facilities within the Australian mainland; 87 children are held in detention in Nauru; and480 children are detained in the community under residence determinations, a system referrred to as community detention.

A #archaicfaces #aboriginal #petroglyth from the #burruppeninsula. The deepnees of these carvings and their colour suggest this piece could be 40,000 years old. If you look at the left eye you will see a yellow scratch mark where someone has damaged this #ancientart Why this site is not #worldheritage is beyond me. In #europe such a piece would be protected behind glass. But this is something we can all do to help save this important #archaeologicalsite. Visit http://www.fara.com.au/aboriginal-heritage-protection-disgrace Keep in mind the #triplespiral of #celticart only dates back 5000 years #newgrange
